RYA welcomes recent government announcement
We at Seahaven Maritime Academy, as trainers and dedicated mentors of students, were delighted that the Education Secretary, Damian Hinds, recently announced his intention to help encourage British children build character and resilience through extracurricular, sporting activities.
This ties in nicely with the RYA’s OnBoard Programme to open up the benefits of water activities to children across the nation, and they had this to say about it:-
– RYA - Royal Yachting AssociationRYA OnBoard was relaunched with a new focus on the broader learning benefits of sailing and windsurfing. It is open to anyone aged 8-18 and offers the opportunity to try out sailing and windsurfing in a safe, structured and fun environment.
See below for a video covering the RYA OnBoard Programme:-
It’s very encouraging to see a politician coming out in support of a scheme that will assist youngsters in getting involved in sailing and windsurfing.
We have a fine tradition in Britain of being one of the world’s most respected seafaring nations and need young blood to be coming through to provide the next generation of professional and sporting mariners.
We are here to help with that process. As young people involved in marine activities develop an interest in working in the Maritime Industry they will need the to be adequately trained. We have a first class reputation for training our students and preparing them in the best way possible for a career at sea.
